My name is Nick Burns, and I’m a professional Personal Assistant with over 10 years’ experience supporting people with a wide range of needs.
I provide one-to-one support that is tailored to each individual — helping individuals live as independently and confidently as possible in their own homes and communities. After many years living and working in Leicestershire, I now live full time in Northumberland, where I provide support in and around Newcastle-upon-Tyne. My goal is to support people live full, meaningful lives, with the continuity and compassion that only a dedicated PA can offer.
I first entered the care sector in 2011, having previously worked in customer-focused roles where I was frequently told I had a natural way with people. Over time, I found my passion lay in helping others live with dignity and choice. Since then, I’ve worked across various care environments including day centres, residential support, and in the community — gaining valuable experience with physical disabilities, mental health conditions, autism, learning disabilities, ADHD, and visual impairment.
In 2015, I became self-employed and began working directly with clients and families. This role has allowed me to build long-term, trusted relationships where people feel truly seen and supported. I’m often described as calm, empathetic, and easy to talk to — someone who treats every person with patience and respect. I also have a great sense of humour which I always feel is vital in this role.
Outside of work, I’m a keen kayaker and nature-lover. I enjoy exploring the Northumberland coast, relaxing in the countryside, and taking in the peace and quiet of this beautiful part of the country. I believe that everyone deserves the chance to live in a way that brings them calm, joy, and independence — and that’s exactly what I aim to support through my work.
If you'd like to know more, or think I might be a good fit for someone in your care, I’d love to hear from you.
